Telenor Connexion on Tuesday named company insider Jimmy Johansson to the newly-created role of information security and privacy officer.
Johansson is responsible for the development and management of the firm’s information security programme, including managing information security risk and compliance with privacy regulations.
"From a security standpoint there are a lot of interesting challenges as Internet of Things is now starting to mature," Johansson said in a statement.
"Connected units are no longer isolated from public access while it needs to be easy for end-users to safely connect further sensors or units to their current solutions," he explained. "To continue providing secure solutions, Telenor Connexion must adapt to the new challenges that our customers are facing when launching IoT enabled services and products."
Johansson, who previously served as technical architect at Telenor Connexion, took up the post on 1 March. He reports to the firm’s CTO, Stephen Bryant.
"Security has always been a priority to us and with a dedicated role for this area we take one step further," Bryant said, describing Johansson as a "very competent person" for the job.
Sweden-based Telenor Connexion builds connectivity solutions for customers in the Internet of Things (IoT) and machine-to-machine (M2M) sectors. It is wholly owned by Telenor.
In his new role, Johansson will work with Telenor Group and its digital services arm Telenor Digital.
