TeliaSonera late last week warned that its fourth quarter operating profit will be hit by one-off charges totalling 2.23 billion kronor (€236 million).
The Sweden-based operator said SEK1.47 billion will come from writedowns at its subsidiaries in Tajikistan, Georgia and Moldova.
"The economic uncertainty in these three countries have impacted our long term view on the value," said TeliaSonera, in a statement on Friday.
Meanwhile, the ongoing lack of a 4G licence in Kazakhstan will result in a further SEK381 million (€40.3 million) writedown of TeliaSonera’s WiMAX business there. This time last year, TeliaSonera warned of a SEK598 million writedown at its Kazakh operation.
The company said Q4 will also include a charge of SEK270 million related to the scrapping or writedown of obsolete systems and platforms. In addition, redundancies and one-off charges driven by the dismantling of one of TeliaSonera’s networks in Denmark will result in a writedown of SEK116 million.
TeliaSonera is due to publish its fourth quarter results on 29 January.
