Press Release
Exeter based ultrafast broadband company, Jurassic Fibre has today announced that even more Somerset residents and businesses will be able to benefit from its state-of-the-art ultrafast broadband network in the near future, having started construction in a further five towns across the county. The towns are Glastonbury, Street, Chard, Crewkerne and Ilminster as well as many of the surrounding villages.
The first premises will be released to market by the award-winning ISP in these locations later this year.
Taking into account the existing coverage in Wellington, Taunton, Bridgwater, all which are now live, as well as Yeovil and Wincanton which are expected to go live shortly, Jurassic Fibre is firmly on target to extend its network to cover over 200,000 homes and businesses across Somerset in the near future.
Michael Maltby, CEO and Founder said: “We are pleased to extend our ultrafast broadband network to even more locations across Somerset, including over 6,000 hard to reach premises in rural locations. We expect to make further announcements soon, as our expansion gains momentum. As can be seen from our recent sponsorship of Yeovil Town FC and Somerset County Cricket Club, we see the success of Somerset as central to the success of Jurassic Fibre and are willing to invest to help achieve it.
“The pandemic has shown us how crucial having a reliable ultrafast broadband connection is in this modern day and age; to stay connected with loved ones, facilitate hybrid working and remote learning and allow us to live our digital lifestyles to the full.”
“For too long, the South West has been overlooked when it comes to digital infrastructure and we want to provide ultrafast connections to even the most hard to reach locations across the region.”
The network will provide internet speeds of up to 950Mbps for homes and 10Gbps for businesses.
Villages with high demand for ultrafast broadband are urged to register their interest with Jurassic Fibre via the company’s website.
Michael Maltby, Chief Executive Officer of Jurassic Fibre will be a speaker at Connected Britain in London on the 21-22 September 2021. Join the event by requesting your place on the website.
