U.K. telco appoints NTT Com’s former security chief Simon Church to head up new division.
Vodafone on Tuesday ramped up its enterprise security operation with the launch of a dedicated business unit.
Called Vodafone Enterprise Security Services (VESS), it will bring together the U.K. telco’s current portfolio of security products, which provide clients with cyber security technology, and specialist advice and support.
"Our customers know they face a wide range of cyber threats, many of which could materially impact their operations and brand. We know they’re looking for trusted partners with the right expertise to stand with them and help them secure their operations from end to end. Vodafone Enterprise Security Services is designed to meet that important need," said Nick Jeffrey, CEO of Vodafone Global Enterprise, in a statement.
VESS’s areas of focus include cloud-based protection for business-critical applications, network perimeter management, threat detection and response, and security assessments and advisory services to help customers develop policy, risk management, and compliance processes.
VESS will be led by Simon Church, who headed up the security arm of Japan’s NTT Com until July 2015. He will take up his new role as VESS CEO in April, reporting to Jeffrey.
"Under the experience leadership of Simon Church, VESS will be completely focused on helping our customers protect their businesses in an unpredictable world," Jeffrey said.
