Press Release

WOM Chile and Telenor Global Services (TGS) have announced the signing of a five-year Managed Roaming agreement. The agreement enables WOM Chile to make their retail offers more attractive for its end users and gives them a stronger position in their local market.

Telenor will be responsible for the full end-to-end wholesale roaming process for WOM Chile. Meanwhile, WOM Chile will be able to utilize the Telenor wholesale roaming group platform and leverage on the Telenor Group scale in terms of cost, revenue, service roll-out and quality.

“We are very happy to participate in Telenor’s Group negotiations, through their Managed Roaming solution. We want our customers to have the best experience traveling abroad and this agreement with TGS will allow us to continue improving our roaming offer to all our customers, at fair prices”, says Rodrigo Hurtado, Business Market & Connectivity Manager of WOM Chile.

“We are very excited to be working with WOM. They are growing very fast in Chile and winning market share. Our aim is to support WOM with reduced wholesale roaming cost as well as operational cost, as their customer base grows. We want to enable their customers to have the best roaming experience when abroad and potentially be able to ‘roam-like-at-home’. This is realized by making use of Telenor’s scale, simplified global processes, and highly experienced team,” says Berit Kristensen, Partnership Sales Director of Telenor Global Services.

Chief Partnership Officer at Telenor Global Services Andre Hansen adds: “Roaming volumes have been reduced during Covid-19, but we now see light at the end of the tunnel, and we forecast to be back to pre-pandemic levels in the near future. Speed in service launches, superior quality and improved cost will be even more important in the years to come, especially with increased pressure on the business and further consolidation that we see in the market. We look forward to succeeding together with WOM in this initiative.”
