3UK has struck up a partnership with Deezer that offers all new and existing customers a free six-month subscription to the music-streaming service.
"Deezer’s impressive catalogue of music from around the world and high quality audio streams complements the service that we offer," said 3UK’s chief marketing director Tom Malleschitz, in a statement late last week.
Available on postpaid, prepaid and SIM-only tariffs, the deal gives subscribers free access to Deezer Premium+, a service that normally costs £9.99 per month.
Customers have a catalogue of more than 35 million songs and more than 40,000 podcasts to choose from, as well as a range of radio stations, and they are also able to listen to an unlimited number of tracks.
The partnership also gives 3 customers access to exclusive content, playlists and events.
Once the six months is up, customers can either cancel their Deezer subscription or opt to pay the £9.99 monthly fee.
"3 is a natural partner for Deezer, not only do they account for 42% of all the U.K.’s mobile data traffic but they are constantly innovating to move the industry forward," said Christian Harris, managing director of Deezer UK and Ireland.
The U.K. partnership follows a similar venture between 3 and Deezer in Sweden, and involved an extensive review of other streaming and value-added services providers.
"Deezer’s approach to innovation and doing things differently really attracted our attention above the competition," Malleschitz said.
3 said that from this month onwards it will embed the Deezer app in all the Android devices it sells.
