Singtel
Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) service
Singtel’s NFV service enables enterprises to replace their physical router and firewall hardware with software-based network applications for flexibility and cost efficiency. The service is aimed primarily at enterprises that operate physically in multiple locations but have little IT support, helping them to minimise on-site set-ups and support of IT equipment with a centralised portal that allows remote network administration. They have the flexibility to pay only for what they use, without worrying about the fixed costs of owning networking equipment. They can also scale their requirements dynamically as their business grows.
The NFV service was commercially launched in May 2016 and Singtel has since extended its portfolio to include the Universal Customer Premise Equipment (uCPE) offering, which allows customers to service chain the routing, firewall and unified threat management capabilities through a single hardware deployment to replace multiple routing and security appliances. Singtel’s awards entry showed encouraging NFV take-up and customer satisfaction.
