Brad Rodrigues to replace Ramzi Haidamus on interim basis while vendor seeks a permanent successor.

Nokia Technologies president Ramzi Haidamus resigned on Wednesday, after just two years in the role.

Nokia Technologies is the Finnish vendor’s patent licensing and R&D division. It recently launched a 360-degree virtual reality camera, the Ozo, and entered the connected health sector through the acquisition of medical device maker Withings. It is also overseeing Nokia’s return to the handset market by licensing its brand and IP to device maker HMD Global.

"What was originally a collection of interesting assets is now a focused, growing and profitable business with a strong leadership team," said Haidamus, who joined Nokia from audio tech firm Dolby in 2014, in a statement.

"Given that progress, now is the right time for me to explore new opportunities to pursue my passion for building and transforming businesses. I am proud of what we have accomplished at Nokia Technologies and look forward to seeing the business continue to grow and thrive," he said.

Haidamus’s resignation is effective from Thursday. Brad Rodrigues, head of strategy and business development at Nokia Technologies, will become acting president of the division while the company searches for a permanent replacement.

To ensure a smooth transition, Haidamus will assume an advisory role through the end of September before leaving the company altogether.

"I wish Ramzi well, and am confident that with its strong foundation, Nokia Technologies will continue its progress without missing a beat," said Nokia CEO Rajeev Suri.
