Today, the Moscow Wi-Fi network has more than 21.5 thousand access points. From September 2020 to August 2021, 1,700 new access points to urban Wi-Fi were launched in Moscow. Free wireless access available in cultural and sports establishments, student dormitories, cultural centers, parks, as well as on city streets inside the Garden and Third Transport Rings.
A public Wi-Fi network allows citizens and guests of the capital to receive the necessary information and stay in touch with friends, family and colleagues.
More than 600 cultural establishments have already equipped with free Wi-Fi – "Pyotr Fomenko’s Workshop", the Moscow Drama Theater "Modern", the Moscow Musical Theater for Children and Youth " Ekspromt".
Also, free Wi-Fi is available in 167 buildings of 33 universities. About 12.7 thousand access points give students the opportunity to prepare for lectures and seminars, communicate with classmates and teachers, friends and family. In particular, over the past year, dormitories of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation have been equipped with this system.
Almost 4.7 thousand points provide access to free Internet in the streets and in parks. Now you can connect to Wi-Fi on the streets of Meshchansky or Donskoy districts. There is free internet in 45 parks in Moscow. Over the past year, 45 access points have been installed in the park of the 50th anniversary of October, the park of the Northern River Station, the Children’s Cherkizovsky Park and many others.
Department of Information Technologies of Moscow commented, that often the city Wi-Fi is most used on Tverskaya Street, Manezhnaya and Pushkinskaya Squares, Arbat, as well as in Sokolniki and Muzeon parks. Everyone can find out where Wi-Fi works on a special interactive map on the website "mos.ru".
The uniqueness of this single Wi-Fi space is that residents can use wireless Internet while moving around the city without re-authorization. Just a few clicks are enough to connect — in the list of available networks, select the "Moscow_WiFi_Free network", complete identification in the browser using an account on mos.ru or by sms and then click the "Log in to the Internet" button.
