Press Release
Peak Technologies – the market-leading provider of digital supply chain, mobile workforce and retail solutions – is proud to announce its new initiative that simplifies the logistics of meeting Net Zero targets for companies with corporate social responsibility programmes.
Peak Technologies has devised a simple system that all its clients can get on board with. It is collecting ‘preloved’ technology, such as rugged handheld computers, tablets and other mobile devices, and finding new homes for them with the help of its charity partner, the British Heart Foundation (BHF). The charity then wipes the devices to a military standard and sells them via its eBay store – the largest online charity reseller in the world. Also, for every mobile handset supplied to BHF, Peak Technologies will ensure a tree is planted on the customer’s behalf.
Peak Technologies is a green-minded organisation putting sustainability at the forefront of its activities. The initiative has multiple benefits for society at each stage of the supply chain:
• Saving electronic waste from entering landfills.
• Re-vitalising the technology for second uses has an obvious environmental and economic dividend.
• Sales of donated items via the BHF eBay store will help the charity fund vital heart research for the 7.6 million people in the UK living with heart and circulatory diseases.
• Each tree planted through the initiative can recapture CO2. (See Fact Box for stats).
Peak Technologies aims to liberate its clients to do what they do best by taking care of the technological complexities. All companies need to know is that each stage of the process helps to shrink their carbon footprint and move them closer to their Net Zero targets.
Peak Technologies delivers the donated mobile hardware to its charity partner The British Heart Foundation (BHF), which then uses a service called Blancco to wipe the devices for reselling. As each device is sold through BHF’s eBay store, Peak Technologies then commissions the planting of a tree through the HutGroup’s more:trees platform. Each customer will subsequently receive a certificate, congratulating them on the amount of CO2 then have saved.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with Peak Technologies for this truly impactful initiative,” comments Karen O’Donoghue, Head of Retail Partnerships at the British Heart Foundation. “Not only does it support the donation of tonnes of electronic waste for reuse and create a sustainable business model for a circular economy, but it will also help us at the BHF fund vital scientific breakthroughs that will help save lives.”
“Peak Technologies aims to orchestrate the collective efforts of its clients so we can all move towards Net Zero together. Whether your passion is refreshing your tech, recycling or funding vital medical research, our expertise can expedite your Net Zero strategy,” says René Schrama, UK Managing Director for Peak technologies.
Having poured the collective compassion of its technology and logistics experts into this project, Peak Technologies now wants to share this gift for efficient recycling with the rest of industry and society.
“We firmly believe that by partnering closely with our customers, we can together make a good contribution towards a more sustainable world,” says Schrama.
