Press Release
Telesoft Technologies has been granted an OFCOM radio license for innovation and research development.
Telesoft will use the newly acquired licence to test radio technologies within its in-house lab alongside its membership of the Telecom Infra Project (TIP). The TIP OpenRAN project is composed of a group of companies coming together to define and build 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G RAN solutions based on vendor natural hardware, software, and open (O-RAN) interfaces.
This newly acquired licence is an opportunity for Telesoft to bring its 30 years’ experience of developing cutting-edge technology for the telecoms industry to the 5G telecoms market. It will enable Telesoft to work alongside the global community to help drive and push-forward the development and innovation of OpenRAN and 5G solutions.
“5G technology brings a wealth of opportunity to nearly all industries including manufacturing, energy, agriculture, retail, financial services, automotive, media, and transportation. But with number of connected devices increasing exponentially, the security challenges start to arise,” explained Martin Rudd, CTO at Telesoft Technologies: “We firmly believe that there is a need for open, disaggregated, and standard based solutions that deliver the highest quality of connectivity to address the needs of both the current and ever-evolving digital climate. This new licence will help us to play our part in providing a wealth of network security innovation and technology to both OpenRAN, as well as the wider 5G telecoms industry.”
