Boldyn Networks snaps up Cellnex’s private networks business unit 

Cellnex and Boldyn Networks have reached an agreement, in which Boldyn will acquire Cellnex’s private networks business unit. 

The acquisition will primarily consist of a Finish company Edzcom, who design, build and operate private 4G and 5G networks on behalf of other companies. The company works in the oil and gas, mining, energy, ports and manufacturing sectors within multiple European markets. Cellnex itself only acquired Edzcom in 2020. 

Qualcomm ends satellite partnership with Iridium 

Qualcomm and Iridium Communications have ended a deal that was set to provide satellite communication services to mobile phones. 

The partnership, which was confirmed in January, had planned to enable satellite messaging and emergency services in smartphones powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Mobile Platforms, which would be delivered through Iridium’s satellite constellation. 

Zegona preparing to take majority stake in Vodafone Spain

Late last month, European telecoms investment firm Zegona Communications confirmed that it had entered negotiations with Vodafone to acquire a full or partial stake in Vodafone Spain. At the time, negotiations were notably in the early stages, with Zegona also in discussions with a consortium of banks to secure funding for the potential purchase.

Now, according to anonymous sources speaking to Bloomberg, negotiations are close to reaching a positive conclusion, with Zegona set to buy a stake of at least 50% in Vodafone Espana.
