Swish Fibre has today unveiled its full build plans for the next few years, representing an ambitious and wide-reaching vision to bring its 10Gbps full-fibre broadband network to over 250,000 homes and businesses across the Home Counties.
Since revealing the first tranche of 11 towns in December last year, this news comes off the back of rapid and efficient progress on the ground in Marlow, South Buckinghamshire.
True to the alternative network provider’s name, construction works commenced one month ahead of schedule and has continued at pace. With high-traffic areas such as Marlow High Street brought forward and completed in record time, the altnet’s first customers will be going live in Marlow next month.
Marlow will be the first to benefit from Swish Fibre’s 10Gbps network, quickly followed by Gerrards Cross and Beaconsfield. Surveying and planning is complete for these towns and work is now underway in Gerrards Cross, with Beaconsfield due to start in Autumn 2020. Swish Fibre will be active in at least ten of the towns in its roadmap by June 2021.
Accelerated construction work has not come at the expense of any lag-time in engaging with the local community in Marlow. Adapting quickly to the emergence of the coronavirus pandemic, the Swish Fibre team have engaged with hundreds of Marlow residents via regular video call sessions and Q&A’s, as well as one-to-one customer engagement by telephone and email.
With Swish Fibre committed to help boost the nation’s coverage levels from its 34th position to number one in the world rankings, the following list of rollout towns are all within a commutable distance to London. These towns have been carefully selected as commercially viable, following an extensive evaluation process undertaken by Swish Fibre and independent analysts.
The towns announced today are:
Marlow; Gerrards Cross; Beaconsfield; Alton; Ascot; Banbury; Bagshot; Bordon; Bourne End; Buckingham; Chinnor; Corsham; Cranleigh; Crawley Down; Crowborough; East Grinstead; Farnham; Flackwell Heath; Godalming; Great Missenden; Haddenham; Haywards Heath; Hazlemere; Heathfield; Liphook; Lindford; Marlborough; Penn; Princes Risborough; Sevenoaks; Southwater; Thame; Uckfield and Wooburn Green.
Brice Yharrassarry, CEO of Swish Fibre, said:
“We’re thrilled to announce our wider rollout plans today, which brings the first phase of full-fibre rollout up to a quarter of a million properties covered in the Home Counties. Construction works on the ground are progressing extremely well and the early signs of interest within Marlow has exceeded our expectations. We’re excited to have started civils work in Gerrards Cross and are on track to be active in at least ten towns by June 2021.”
