AWS to invest $15bn in Japan’s cloud computing infra
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has today announced plans to invest 2.2 trillion Japanese yen ($15.24 billion) in Japan’s cloud computing infrastructure by 2027. The investment is expected to add over 37 billion to the Japanese GDP.
Orange and Capgemini launch cloud joint venture Bleu
This week, French telecoms operator Orange and IT specialist Capgemini have announced the launch of commercial activities for Bleu, their jointly developed cloud platform. Bleu is designed specifically to serve the French market, particularly the public sector, including the French State, public agencies, hospitals, regional authorities, Vital Importance Operators, and Essential Service Operators.
BT signs connectivity deal with Iraqi gas firm
BT has this week signed an agreement with BGC to securely connect company operations in Iraq, helping to accelerate the company’s digital transformation. BGC was established in 2013 as a as a 25-year incorporated joint venture between the Iraqi government (who own a 51% share), Shell (44%), and Mitsubishi (5%).
Hewlett Packard Enterprise closes in on $13 billion Juniper Networks acquisition
According to a report from Reuters, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) is in late-stage discussions to purchase Juniper Networks in a deal that could be worth $13 billion. According to the report, the deal could be finalised as early as this week.
