ZTE Corporation, a major international provider of telecommunications, and enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, today announced that it has signed a strategic cooperation Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Turkcell Iletisim Hizmetleri A.S.

The MOU signing ceremony was held on 1st of March 2017 during Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. It was signed by Dr. Zhao Xianming, the CEO of ZTE Corporation and Mr. Kaan Terzioglu, CEO of Turkcell.

ZTE and Turkcell have been cooperating on the T-series of mobile phones for a number of years and both parties aim to strengthen their current cooperation and extend it to other fields including Gigabit-capable passive optical networks (GPON), dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) and the side-edged 5G. This Memorandum of Understanding is not only intended to strengthen the existing professional ties between the two companies, but also to mean that cooperation between them should be extended to other fields, including fixed network and wireless products such as customer premises equipment (CPE), GPON, DWDM, 5G and more.

According to a "2023 Vision of Turkey" report, its ICT industry will account for 8 percent of the nation’s GDP, and help in the country’s rapid development with an industry experiencing explosive growth. As the county’s number one mobile operator, Turkcell will play a key role in helping to fulfil this vision alongside ZTE, which has been working to help Turkey develop its IT capabilities.
