Are “lazy” broadband engineers to blame for UK cyber-attacks? 

A report from the Telegraph suggests that UK hospitals and banks are more likely to be exposed to cyber-attacks because of “lazy” broadband engineers failing to complete paperwork. According to the article, the engineers are failing to disclose “when and where they are working on BT’s network”, leaving BT’s client companies unable to see who is accessing their critical network infrastructure.

Reunited: Dish Network and EchoStar complete merger

The new year sees Charlie Ergen’s telecoms empire pieced back together, combining satellite firm EchoStar with struggling wireless and TV player Dish Network. Satellite communications company EchoStar was initially spun off from satellite TV company Dish Network back in 2008, with the moved hailed as allowing both companies more flexibility and investment potential.
